Fashion trends have come a long way since women came out of the kitchen!!! At one time, our clothing was so restricted and bulky is was hard to move. Corsets and stocking, boning and petticoats at one time were all the rave. Can you imagine having to get ready for work in today’s society and having to lace up a corset? Nope not happening. Thank GOD for the invention of the Bra!!! Saved so much time and effort. But even those were painful to wear when they were first introduced.

Exercise wear is the New Fashion Trend
At one time, exercise wear was meant only for the gym. Reason being was some considered it a little too revealing and risque. It wasn’t proper wear for other activities. However, we have since discovered that exercise wear is quite comfortable and sexy. Not to mention with the right accessories and accents can be both fashionable as well as modern.
For example, a nice comfortable black legging would look great with a tank top and a full length blazer. Button closed in the middle with some 3 inch heeled boots and great accessories. As I am an avid shoe collector, everything looks better with the perfect heel. Then the accessories always make the ensemble. The chandelier earrings with multiple bangle bracelets and the string of necklaces in various lengths.
As one of my various degrees is in fashion design, it bet most of you didn’t know that you are fully accessorized if you -have less than seven pieces of jewelry on including your hair accessories. Just a little tidbit for you. So, 7-10 pieces of accessories is the perfect amount for any outfit. Just a hint to you fellows, diamonds go with everything!!!
From Modern to Contemporary
So, back in the 1920’s women basically gained their independence. They were allowed to vote!!! It took a great deal of effort, fighting and negotiations. However, this movement sparked the women’s movement to test the waters in other fields. Thus, they became a bigger force in the work place. No longer were they just relegated to nurses and teachers or nannies. No they were becoming secretaries, carriers, drivers and business owners. This was completely outside the norm and turned the world on its ear.
However with this change we women discovered that we needed the fashion sense and style just like the men. We needed to improve our look. Get rid of the apron and sensible shoes. We needed our own power suit. But it needed to be distinct as well as classy. Thus the women’s suit was created. Along with that, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, came the bra!!!
I’ll tell you this much. I think I prefer the bra in any shape or fashion over the bone corset!!! Can you imagine getting laced up every day in a contraption that not only restricts your breathing, but if not laced correctly can actually do damage to your lungs and ribs. It was proven that in the late 1930’s women actually had their lower ribs removed so that the corset would hence and show them to have a smaller waistline. Sorry, but I think I’ll stay the size I am.
