In my lifetime, I have collected over 3000 hardback and kindle books. I am an avid reader and have been since I was small. In school, Emily Bronte was one of my favorite authors. She and her sister, Charlotte, enable me to see other places besides Robeson County in North Carolina. They help me develop a love for the English Moors and the the highlands. I was able to enjoy the nuances of everyday life of people who were not like me.
As I got older, my interest changed as will all teens. I was a Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew mystery reader. Here were kids my age solving mysteries, getting in trouble, having the same troubles I did but still enjoying life. I still enjoyed the classics like Huckleberry Finn, Gone with the Wind, and Tom Sawyer. Nothing beats a great classic. Great Expectations is a book I suggest every teenager should read.
College and adulthood sometimes crippled my ability to indulge in my favorite pastime of reading. With studies and later marriage and family, it became a little difficult to read. as a result, my interest changed again. I started looking for something outside the ordinary. I needed an outlet from the hassle and mundane drudgery my life had become. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a wife and mom. However, sometimes we lose who we are and forget about what we need. as a wife and mom, our responsibilities sometimes overshadow the fact that I am still me and still need to take some time for myself.

Now, I take time for me. Paranormal romance has become my getaway. There is nothing like it. A little bit of sci-fi, paranormal mixed with a lot of romance and spice is just what the doctor ordered!!!!
Lora Leigh was the first author that I discovered – the breed series. It was amazing. Here is a series of books that shows the birth, struggle and love of men and women who were created from human and animal DNA with an emphasis on the animal aspect. They look mostly like human but have distinct characteristics of the animal whose DNA was used. The detail and story line is so amazing. When reading any in this series, I feel like I am right there with them. I cry and laugh with them. I find myself arguing with the characters when they don’t accept the breed, at first, when they find out exactly what they have fallen in love with.
Tempting the Beast is the first book in the series. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this is a great place to start. It will make you laugh, cry, get you angry, make you happy and get you excited. This may be a fantasy, paranormal romance, but it has a lot of similarities with today’s issues. Trust me, you will not be able to put it down and will be ready to start on the next.
